Homemade Magnetic Toy

I made these magnets for O before our long road trip when we went snow skiing. I printed out pictures of O, family, and some of her favorite things and decopauged them onto foam core board. I cut them out and put magnets on the back. O had fun playing with them on the magnetic wipe-off board.

  1. We've made magnets and glued them to magnetic-backed regular paper. They're difficult for my little ones' hands to pick up and move, though...I love the foam core board idea. Thanks!

  3. I made a similar board on an old cookie sheet. I made magnetic animals but I really like the idea of family and baby pictures. I had a similar issue as meg with the magnet sheets so I like the idea of foam core. I also like the idea of using a white board so that when they're older it can double as a place to draw pictures or practice writing letters. Another idea I did on the backside of mine is that I glued felt to it and made up some felt characters my son could play with.

  4. I love this idea! But I'm thinking that tomorrow I'm going to make a bunch of these for some of my preschool students!!! The magnets reminded me of a binder-book my grandmother made using magazine pictures for me as a child.
